When Capital Pride Alliance began planning DC’s historic 40th Pride Celebration, leaders knew the website would be a central resource for revelers, sponsors and the community at large. With hundreds of thousands of festival goers streaming into DC from across the nation, Capital Pride’s site would be the first place visitors look to explore events, maps, sponsor and partner info and more. Capital Pride turned to Punch Digital Strategies to bring Pride to life online.

Solution
We began by mapping out the activities users would need to accomplish on the site: find info on events and activities, find opportunities to volunteer, and donate or sponsor events. We developed an information architecture to lead users to these goals, and used responsive design to make sure each conversion is accessible on nearly any device. Further, the site needed to serve as a resource for the community. We designed and built a robust events calendar tool that allows partner organizations to submit events directly through the site. Events are filterable by category to make it even easier for users to search. The project included:

The new site was developed in an efficient, iterative process so we were able to launch on time. Over the course of the 40th Celebration, the website was a central hub of activity for participants and community members alike. Since then, we’ve continued to partner with Capital Pride for their annual celebration. Capital Pride Alliance now has a robust and user-friendly platform to bring the community together year-round.
