1 in 7 adults have kidney disease. 500,000 have kidney disease in the D.C. area alone. Each year the National Kidney Foundation holds a gala known as the Kidney Ball to raise awareness and drive support for kidney disease treatment and research. The event consists of live entertainment, interactive activities, dinner, live and silent auctions and more. In 2017, when the National Kidney Foundation wanted to improve attendance and increase donations, the team turned to Punch to come up with a unique theme, build a website and provide supporting promotional materials. Our partnership for the annual event continues to this day.

Event branding and marketing materials for healthcare non-profit
We started by meeting with the National Kidney Foundation team to learn more about website objectives and discuss how the event has worked in past years. We also researched similar events, with a focus on non-profit fundraisers and galas to explore how other organizations were successfully promoting events. After the discovery phase, we began to brainstorm an overall theme that would get attendees excited to attend. Most recently, we selected the theme “Kidney Ball Live,” paying homage to Stadium Rock and other immersive, live music experiences. We quickly converted the theme from a mood board to a comprehensive brand. Next, we began website development: building the sitemap and wireframe, then proceeding to design and copywriting. We also created marketing materials such as an event brochure and additional signage, and virtually every public-facing component at the event. Our team also met with kidney transplant recipients and donors to film firsthand video testimonials — sharing their stories to spread awareness. The videos were shown the night of the event as well as at Capital One Arena during halftime of a Washington Wizards game.

Our partnership was key in helping the National Kidney Foundation create an exciting and engaging event, raising awareness and donations to help end kidney disease. The website was instrumental in helping attendees get necessary information, from tickets to donation info. In the months leading to the event, our branding and promotional efforts helped sell out the gala and raise thousands of dollars in donations. What’s more, the event now had a consistent identity from signage to promotional handouts. This created a stronger overall presence than in past years. We look forward to continuing our partnership with The National Kidney Foundation.
