For more than 40 years, Scientific Systems Company, Inc. (SSCI) led the vanguard of autonomous systems. SSCI’s innovations have driven advancements for DARPA, NASA and all branches of the military. From unmanned systems under sea and in space, to collaborative mission autonomy across multiple domains, SSCI has pioneered many novel ways to advance exploration and discovery and support the national security mission. However, years of continuous innovation and focus on delivering client work left little time to focus on building the SSCI brand. As a result the company’s website and marketing materials weren’t effective at conveying the company’s advanced capabilities. SSCI leaders turned to Punch to do what we do best.

Branding, website and collateral for unmanned systems pioneer
We began our engagement by meeting with SSCI leadership and stakeholders to discuss overall strategy and goals for the brand refresh. We led a deep dive into company capabilities and achievements, and established a strong positioning foundation. The creative work began a brand refresh, following Punch’s proprietary “creative themes” process, resulting in a new logo, messaging and design system. We began a systematic redesign, rewrite and redevelopment of the SSCI corporate website to better convey the company’s value proposition, and more effectively inspire talented new team members to apply to come on board. Prior to the website launch we refreshed all essential marketing materials to ensure consistency across print and digital channels.

SSCI had two main goals for the refresh. First was to build trust and confidence in from potential clients and partners by showcasing innovation and accomplishments. Second was to inspire the best and brightest minds in AI and autonomy to apply and join the SSCI team. Since launching the refreshed brand SSCI has successfully achieved both aims, winning multimillion-dollar contracts with DARPA and recruiting highly skilled engineers. The company is now better positioned to communicate its expertise, and boasts a web presence that accurately reflects the innovative nature of SSCI’s work.
